Question:I would like to get some information somehow on my dead grandfather. He was in the United States Armed Forces. Please give me a link or something of how i can get some information free.

There are some military records available on Ancestry.com; however, as you know this is a webite that requires a subscription. Having said that, there are a LOT of really kind people who would be happy to do a lookup to see if they can find your grandfather in the available military records. Simply ask another question and provide some identifying information such as when he was born and what state he was from and what war he possibly took part in. Since he is deceased, there is no threat of his identity being stolen.

If you don't want to take this approach you can always try ordering his military file from the National Personnel Records Center. There are requirements and forms to fill out but here is a website that can help you with the process.
