Wow. I love this question, ok so here goes...

In the late 1800's my family came over here from England on a boat, and changed their last names, so that our true ancestry would not be known. But lucky for me my great grandmother kept a family bible that she had written a family tree in since she was a child, asking her great grandparents about their great grandparents, and apparently she loved genealogy for she had notes and notes of history.

Prior to living in England our family came from Spain, so I must be of Spanish origin. The family tree is filled with many Spanish last names, and although we had lived in England for a very long time we did come from Spain.

How we got there I could only imagine!

No as far back as 1615 we are English, I haven't been able to get any further back yet, but I will.

My family consist of French, German, Swedish, Scotch-Irish, Native American, and English. English is dated back to 1016 and was full of Lords and Ladies, Sirs and Dames. Native American side we are related to Chief Sitting Bull. What about you?

Hi Summer Girl.

I've got ancestors from all over the world. And yes, it's mixed up. I have several Native American lines---2-3 Cherokee lines and 1 Choctaw line. The law only allows you to be a member of one tribe. Officially, anyway. So I have proven my Choctaw lineage and belong to the Choctaw tribe. The Cherokee ancestors did not appear on the Dawes Rolls.

As time has passed, I've heard that there may be additional Cherokee lines that have not been documented yet and may never be.... But I do seem to have a lot of Cherokee in me. The name "White" appears at one point and it had me wondering if there was a connection to Elvis' Cherokee ancestor---Morning Dove White. If it were true, it would explain the physical similarities that my uncles share with Elvis. Including the olive skin tone

During my research, I discovered that we are related to the Parker family that migrated to Texas in the early 1800's. My ancestor--Mary Ann Stokes, descended from Granny Parker (from her frist marriage). Most of the Parkers, including Granny Parker, were massacred by the Commanche Indians and Cynthia Ann Parker was kidnapped. She grew up within the tribe and was the mother of Quanah Parker....a famous war chief. Making this discovery was exciting. But confusing also. I had folks on both sides......

I have traced several lines back to England, Scotland, and Ireland. I have two German lines--the Whitemans and the Whisenhunts. The Whisenhunts traced even further back into Switzerland. One line traced back to a place called "Prussia" and I was surprised. I'd never heard of the place.... I'm told that there was some Russian roots and some Spanish, too.

The venture off into my family's genealogy was to become an exciting journey in my life. It has been a fun hobby for me and it has given me a great deal of satisfaction to make a contribution in preserving our family history and to share it with my family over the years.

My mother came from a mixture from Bombay in india and Cumberland in Scotland. My father came pure-bred from an ancient tribe of Africa refered to as the Essen. We call them Assin. My father and all of his brothers have Assin names - Yesu etc. All seven sibblings came out with different ethnic appearances. We did not see the difference, until we travelled. My genes did go the whole nine yards I guess, so like Asaasi (Isis) the earth god, I say it is souls only that matters.

So far only English...and so far...
70-75%: Yorkshire region
15% Derbyshire region
...the rest from elsewhere in England...
