Position:Home>Genealogy> Opinion about my race?

Question:I was born in guyana South America. My grandma is black and indian...she later married my grandfather who is indian [don't know about any other mix cause he was an orphan]. They had my mom who married my father who is brown (however he also has blk but not sure how far that goes back). So what race would that make me?
Btw...I have the mix'd hair and am told all the time that i have an exotic look and my race is never guessed correctly.

You can safely say that you are Black and Indian. There may be other things in the mix but those seen to be the predominant ones. I don't think that it is unfair to any race to pick your two base ones out of list of multiples. In this day and age it is hard to come across anyone that can 100% say they are all one race( of course there are some). I, myself, say that I am Italian and Irish. I also have Yugoslavian, Native American, African, German, Czech, Thai , etc... I could go on for pages but my father is prodomenently Italian and my mother is prodomenantly Irish so that's what I consider myself. I don't knock the others in the mix and I love that I have a variety of races in my background but when asked it is easier to give the short answer. Close friends and family, of course, know the list : )

If your father is black then that by law is what you are

you are you.

What race is brown?? And how could anyone guess a race, that you do not even know?

Well if you are living here in America.....Then claim you are a Native American. Then you can get a piece of the Action at all of those Casinos and start Racking in the Cash

you are confused!

sounds like either black or Indian or maybe native would be a better description

your indian from your mom's side and black from your dads side

What type of Indian? Native American, or West Asian? Your father is brown? Is that a race? You leave out some important information if you are looking for an actual genetic composition.

Personally, i think the more people reproduce interacially, the better our species becomes. So Kudos to you for being polyracial. That's cool.

Mine is never guessed easily either - a lot of meditteranean descent(from three distinct ethnic origins), a wee touch of something tribal and brown, and voila, no one easily guesses where I hail from!
I have been told I look
1) Italian (definitely not)
2)spaniard (Parte!)
3)french (Oui!)
4)Portuguese(sim!)
5)moorish (wtf?! Im NOT dark, just an olivey colour)
6)turkish (oh please.)
What the wee dash of tribal is I am not going to divulge.... you have to GUESS!
So yes, I know EXACTLY how you feel!! :)

why do u want to know tht pls dont ask this question.
since its not good to get racial discriminated in public as i suppose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
people think south americans only know tht they r cow boys & girls but they dont know the truth tht they are better than north us

regardless of all the background race you were born in Guyana so that is your nationality.Same as me dad was of German decent mom has Indian decent makes I was born in America makes me American with German Indian decent-as far as people not being able to tell your nationality dont fret none happens all the time
