Are you nuts?! Myanmar is killing its own people in the streets with international media watching...and you want to sneak in so you can do genealogy research? Yikes! I've been at this for the better part of 30 years and even I wouldn't readily walk into a civil war in order to do research.

The ONLY way you'll find records is if you have a friend inside the country already who is a scholar and has access to the archives. The possibility that Britain stored a few things in the Foreign Office archives from the colonial days when it was Burma is a possibility...but only to the extent that they kept records on British citizens serving in Burma. They wouldn't have records on the colonials.

IMHO you need to wait for the next junta to overthrow the current government and for a stable new government to emerge before you can get in there to do any further research....unless you know someone who can get to the records for you safely and smuggle them out for you without getting caught.
