I will guarantee Augustus Young was not given an original land grant in Quebec. All of the land belonged to France for the first 170 years of Quebec history. The English did not come into the picture for many generations. An Englishman was not even allowed to own land in one of the signeuries unless he converted to Catholicism in those days. He may have acquired land after the British arrived, but it would not have been a land grant. Those were only given by the Crown in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario and a few in Alberta.

I went to Ancestry and tried finding the record you're referencing and couldn't locate it. But I did find an Augustus Young as an original settler in Lake Township, Ontario in 1786. Could this be the man you're researching?

Canada is very easy to research. If you have details on him (particularly years and locations), we'd be happy to help you research him.
