The answers you have been given are helpful, you would need to go through the BMD index to find the information. Someone said that the mums maiden name was included from 1st July 1912, it was actually 1st July 1911, when this information was first included in the index.
I am happy to do the search for the information for you, I have membership to ancestry.com/.co.uk global collection. You can either email me mamsgel1956@yahoo.co.uk or edit your question to include the information.

ask them, or google there name.

It depends on what country you're in. If it's UK, if the person is dead you can post the name here, otherwise email me the name and I wil look in the birth index for you. This will give the place of registration as well as mother's maiden name (after 1912).

For a small fee, you can usually access the full record of birth, death, and marriage certificates online or at offices around the country. They won't be as specific as what hospital or address the person was born at, but they'll be able to tell you where the birth was registered, which should help.

look for his name on search engines or just ask him or ask one of his friends.

It depends on the year of birth and the country. As you are in the UK and Ireland section I am going to make the huge assumption that you are in the UK or Ireland.

In England and Wales post 1 July 1837 and in Scotland post 1 Jan 1855 you can get a copy of the birth certificate from the relevant registration authority. New Register House for Scotland and the CRO for England / Wales.

In Irealnd it is a bit more complex - civil registration commenced in 1864 but many Irish records were destroyed in 1922. Records from 1864 to 1922, for all Ireland, and from 1922 for the Republic are held at the Office of the Registrar General, Joyce House, 8-11 Lombard Street, Dublin 2, Ireland. Northern Irish records since 1922 are held at the GRO, Oxford House, Chichester Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT1 4HL

If the person was born prior to civil registration but was alive in 1851 you can check on the census (1851, 61, 71, 81, 91 and 1901 are available. 1841 would not be any use as it only records yes or no for "born in county"). Then check the parish records for a baptism. If the person was dead by 1851 then the 1841 census will give a clue as to the county. I'm afraid it is a trawl through parish registers at that point. Don't forget that many have been indexed. Also the local family history society may have family trees submitted by members and you can advertise in their magazine or even a national family history magazine for information.

If he is still alive, you'll be breaking a dozen or more laws if you go snooping too far. Just ask him or one of his relatives. If the person is deceased, then pull the death certificate and the place of birth will be listed on there. If he was alive in 1930, pull him up on the last census that's published and his place of birth will also be listed on there.
