Will I get tribe reconition for this?

Question:I am Menominee Indian/ Mamaceqtaw. I am 1/4. My grandma was 100%, thus making my mom 50% and I'm 25%. I think that's how it works anyways. Please correct me if that's not true. I am intrested in all the things my ancesters were and still are. I'm also learning the language, and often speak in it more than English. So do you think I could get official reconition from the tribe? I want to be with them, and go to the reservation and such. So am I enough?

Most tribes accept 1/16th as the qualifying level. You need to gather your proof of lineage, and present it to the Tribal Counsel. It's good that you are learning the language, and exploring the culture. If the remaining 75% of your ancestry is caucasian, you may have to cope with the fact that you don't blend right off the bat, but I'm sure they will welcome you and will allow you to make a contribution to the community.

I would visit the Reservation and see how things are. Surely you will be welcomed!
