Put in symbols for what your grandparents did for a living in each quarter; a hammer for a carpenter, airplane for a jet pilot, rifle for a soldier, etc. If your grandmothers never worked outside the home, put in gardening tools or cooking tools or something they did as a hobby. You are WAY ahead of the innocents who write here looking for a "Family" coat of arms. There isn't any such thing. The college of heralds did the same thing I advised you to do, back in 1403, more or less, except they worked with one person at a time (You are doing four), they had a whole "dictionary" of animals that meant different things, and most people's* occupations were "Knight", so they did character attributes and historical references instead of occupations. *(Most people getting a C of A; most people in general were farmers.) http://www.theheraldrysociety.com/ Some educational background and hows/whys. I agree totally with Ted.. Far more legitimate to design your own, that misunderstanding the urban legend that coats of arms belong to "all" members of a surname/ family. |
