If he was a friend, do you have any contacts for his other friends or family? Perhaps they will be able to help. Failing that, do you know where he was when he died? If he was still working abroad, perhaps he was buried there, or if in England, do you know which town he was living in? Perhaps you could try emailing the local churches or crematoria.
