Contact the local library or genealogy groups in the counties or towns you believe are where they were born. Have them check for birth records, based on mothers name. Many birth records can be located on microfilm and can be sent to your local library for a small fee, but the film can contain many months of daily newspapers for you to search on your own. Good luck, and I would start with the genealogy societys first.

It shouldn't cost. You have to have the full names of the last 3 or 4 generations; when you get that info, go to the courthouse in your state! It shouldn't be so hard, since 1945, relatively speaking ,was not that long ago! Good Luck Hon!

If you would like to email me mamsgel1956@yahoo.co.uk I will do the search for you, I have membership with www.ancestry.com global collection.
Hope to help you if I can.

EVERY state has restrictions on who can obtain birth certificates, to prevent identity theft. They are legal documents, and NOT kept by any genealogical society. Since you are not the person named, who may be still living, you won't be able to access it, whether it can be found or not.

I mean... would you want someone else to be able to get YOUR birth certificate and make a false identity??

go to ancestry.com which is free in the local libraries under research databases and it will access to the federal census bureau and archives. but only the 1790-1930 census records are available. you can search by state. it also have birth record search.
