My last name is Prucha... its Czech maybe yours comes from there?

Surnames are generally categorized as:

Occupational: Whereas the surname is derived from ones trade. Common examples.......Smith, Wheeler, Carpenter, etc.

Regional/Geographical: Such as West, Hinckley (a small village in the U.K.,) York, Van Antwerp, and so on.

Physical: Borrowing from one's physical traits such as tall, short, color of hair, etc: Examples inc: Long, Redman, Short,
and so on.

My best guess regarding your surname (excluding any corruption) is that is easily fits into Regional/Geographical category.

A quick answer to a difficult question, but, hope it helps.

The Prussian royal family wasn't known as the "Prussians", they were the Hohenzollerns. If your name is Prussia, either your ancestors came from there or their name was changed to make it easier to pronounce.
