I don't trust "name sites" for one reason...they forget that names can come from more than one country, have more than one origin, and mean different things in different languages.

Here's where the immigrants named Dace came from:

You know that is a hard one since I never heard that name; however, it sounds Swedish or Norweigan to me, but I could be wrong.

I was wrong! It's Irish .Look here:http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.c/qx/...

dace

English: from Old French dars ‘dace’; a nickname for someone thought to resemble the fish of this name, or a metonymic occupational name for a fisherman or fish seller.

Dictionary of American Family Names, Oxford University Press, ISBN 0-19-508137-4

Think it's English. Means of the Nobility.

All that is going to be relevant is when/where the gr grandma was born, and who her parents were. The rest of them being German is completely distinct.
Gen's mom CLEARLY shows that the name may come from any number of locations, thus any assumed ethnicity is simply an assumption.
