Welcome..
One thing that people hear frequently here, is the fact that many names do NOT (as they expect) all come from just one origin or nationality. For verification, I did a quick scan of some of the Crea families in the 1880 census. Some show English origins, others Ireland, etc. In other words, running into someone with this last name, is not going to mean they are relatives.
So... grandpa and grandma Crea were born in Italy, and came to the US? For them, you should not have to work back too far, to learn who your relatives really are. What is needed is a "family group sheet" for them as a couple, and their children/ spouses. You probably can get a draft of that, just by talking to mom or dad. You'll want to enter birth/death dates for all of them... and especially when the children were born and where. The goal is to determine the approximate date when they came, AND if they were naturalized citizens or not. If yes, then that file will be a gold mine for you.
If they were in the US before 1930, they should also be findable in the 1930 census.
You may also want to investigate if either of them had siblings that came over, and what can be learned about the siblings. These will be your known relatives.

Here is the search filter for the social security death index. I find 44 entries for Crea that died in NY. Some clearly are Italian! You'll want to see how many of these are connected to you. Remember, the wives have different maiden names.
After checking that... please stop by www.rootsweb.com, and USING THE FILTER, run a search for Crea with birthplace of Italy. There are a number of entries for that. That sure opens some questions, if you can verify those origins to where your grandparents came from.
good luck! and please come back with more questions..we love hooking you into the research.
