1880 census for Walter L. Jones, Sr., and Lena Kate Jones in Uniontown or McKees

Question:I seeking information on where they moved from, and how long they been at their present or current address. This is for implementation of a genealogy research to start a family tree. Both of these are my grandparents. My grandfather was born in 1876 and died July 21, 1918 at Aisne-Marne, Belleau, France during WWI., and my grandmother was born in 1878, and died October ?, 1952 in Uniontown, PA

has five young men who look possible in Washington DC. Most have mother AND father b. VA, so there are no exact matches, but the F&M BP's don't match in about 25% of the census entries I see. I was hoping for a mother-in-law or father-in-law living with Lena on the 1920 or 1930.

Did you use ancestry.com or www.familysearch.org? Ancestry is about the best geneology research site. They give you a three day "free trial" and then after that you have to pay for it. (But if you are sneaky you can "borrow" someone else's email and get another three days free..) You can actually get a lot of information just in three days, and they also have message boards to check if anyone is looking for the same names as you are. They also have the census reports on there too, and it tells you things such as who was living in the same house, their ages, addresses, and occupations

Another good option for census research is to use Heritage Quest. This can be accessed on-line through your library website. All you need is a library card. Call your local library and they will explain how to access Heritage Quest for free at home. Good Luck!

Walter was born in Washington, D.C., his father was born in Virginia and his mother was born in Washington, D.C. Lena was born in Pennsylvania, Her father was born in Virginia and her mother in West Virginia. Walter worked as a furnaceman.
