1. Serbian or Croatian origin.
From Tornik mountain and surrounding region:

2. Jewish surname.
Meaning: somebody working with Torah.
Making hand-made copies, for example.

sounds a bit RUSSIAN to me

just ask your parents or other relatives. i'm not sure though.
