Position:Home>Genealogy> Is there a website where I can view a death certificate for free?

Question:my sister died in 1974 at 9 months old, the circumstances surrounding her death are very mysterious. I want to look at the death certificate to see what is listed as cause of death. I found websites that will let you do a search for free but not view the actual death certificate. This has been bothering me all my life and I would like to know what really happened to my sister. My family will not give me straight answers so I am on my own here.

I assume you are in the United States. If so, you can get a copy of the death certificate. Contact your local vital stats office to find out the details on what they require for you to get that record, but since you are immediate family, you are legally allowed to obtain it.

Usually, you just need to provide your ID, some identifying information on your sister (name, date of birth, date of death, parents names, location of death), and a fee of less than $20, probably closer to about $10 or so. It really is pretty simple to obtain.
There probably is not a way to view the death certificate online but they are not that expensive to order from the state she died in. You do have to have lots of information and prove that you are entitled to the information.
Hmmm.....this sort of excuse happened to Amy Lee (Frontwoman of Evanescence) sister too. So, is my uncle's brother, so I suggest that you need to go to the hospital where your sister had died show your license, birth certificate immigration status (whatever)!!! and *maybe* they can tell you what happened. However, if they don't tell you what happened to your sister then, you have to go to a place where they keep records of people (in the US or Canada) and ask the vault keeper about your sister.
