Hoop family from Ohio...ancestory?

Question:My grandmother is a Hoop (Virginia Kay) and was born in 1942 (give or take a few years) and I know that she had 13 brothers and sisters. They are from Ohio (I believe southern) and I want to know more. She had a sister named Ruth...and that's all I know.

I was born in OH so I know some Hoops myself. Check out the link.. a good place to start

What you are going to run into is a lot of confidentiality walls, since any of these would easily still be alive. The most recent census record open to the public would be 1930, so I assume her parents would be findable in that.
Your first step is to identify the actual dates for grandma; and names of her parents. Each generation 'back' that you can get, the better your odds of finding records, or other relatives working on the family name.
