Question:I'm researching about joining the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. I don't know if I qualify but I'm pretty sure my mom does. If my mom qualifies, what are the benefits of her, me or both of us joining? Please post. Thanks.

Here's a general list of sites/resources for tracing any Native lineage. EACH tribe has different requirements. There are many persons whose only reason for wanting to prove their lineage is hoping for financial reasons... and to be honest, many of the enrolled persons find that to be offensive. NOT SAYING that is your reason, a simple heads up.
When you mention not being sure if your mom does, it sounds as if you are still early in your research. It is important to be sure and focus on good research of any kind, to know exactly who your ancestors were. Without knowing who, it is difficult to determine if they were on the Dawes Rolls. Sadly, many people have family stories of Cherokee heritage that are not based in factual records. For those who are legitimate descendants, it is all the more important to know how to find those documents.
I don't know how you qualify, but to find them go to Cherokee, North Carolina.
