Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The Tokugawa family crest is made up of three hollyhock leaves -- can a family crest of two hoke feathers crossing over each other possibly indicate a line of decent from the Tokugawa family? The japanese system of heraldry is very complex and it has a lot of differences from heraldry as we know it. Lines of descent can rarely be detected from what appears on a crest. The crests are called "mon". You can try searching for that keyword and find out more. Hope this helps. Don't know anything about Japanese family crest. However, "family crest" is a misnomer for a coat of arms. See the links below from the U. K. College of Arms and the U. S. National Genealogical Society. http://www.college-of-arms.gov.uk/Faq.ht... http://www.ngsgenealogy.org/comconsumerp... There is a lot of chicanery in the surname product business, particularly regarding coats of arms and "family crest." Websites selling them should not be trusted. They sell them on a surname only which is not valid. |
