Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It could be, but don't forget it being a nickname for Janice, Janis, Janet or Jane, too. It's also the Dutch equiv. to Johnny (John = Jan, so Johnny = Jany). It's a pretty common Dutch surname, as well. Not sure but think so It could be almost anything beginning with a 'J'
