Thanks for the answers so far. But, I'm really interested in the specific tribes of the British Isles. For example, does anyone claim heritage to a ceratin Celtic tribe, as the Native Americans belong to specific tribes? I recently watched a movie on Queen Boudica and how she was a member of the Iceni tribe, and other people of Britain belonged to other tribes. Thanks for any information you can give.

http://www.celtnet.org.uk/table_contents... Of course most of the people in GB can claim to descend from the pre-Germanic Celtic tribes. Thing is, between the Romans and the Germanic the Celtic tribes were destroyed in Wales, Cornwall and what is now England. In Scotland there is still a certain degree of awareness of clan affiliation. A clan is basically a tribe. In Ireland there is quite a bit of interest in clan pride. I can say that on my father's side I am descended from the Dal gCaís and on my mother's side from the Eoghanachta. People in England and Wales have lost that knowledege I think because they were subjugated by the continental Germanic tribes so long ago. My line runs back into back into Wales and Cornwall on my fathers side, and Durham / Northumberland on my mothers, My linage is 100% English, I have got back as far as 1615 on my mums side, and 1633 on dads and the records show they are all born in England. How interesting...If I take my ancestry back as far as I can go, & presume they're descended from the orig. tribe, they'd be Damnonii, SW Scotland, & Dumnonii, SW England, which apparently are related. Is there any way of actually proving it?
