Question:

Mtdna i cant understand this stuff!!?

ok so my uncle, mothers brother, got genetically tested and he sent me the results. this stuff is so confusing, i am most interested in haplogroups because it seems a little easier to comprehend, but how do i tell which subgroup of K i belong to?.....
if anyone out their has done this please tell me how you calculate which subgroup i am in...the haplogroup is mtdna K and i know there are 4 different subgroups.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It really doesn't surprise me that you are so confused, I've just been searching for an 'easy' chart for you to look at, what a nightmare that was, there's a lot of stuff on the Internet, but quite honestly I didn't have a clue what I was looking for.

I came up with this information for you, hope it helps. (Just to be clear here) I have never done the mtdna just the Y-dna, but I believe to determine subclads in any Halpogroup, you must test positive or negative for certian genetic markers
I know that mine I1b2a1-Isles/Sc which is a subclad of I1c but thats just my Y-dna, we have many genealogist who come on here that can probably give you a better answer as far as mtdna and understanding it, but I believe if you look at which genetic markers you tested positive for that should help you to understand which subclad you will be in, I believe that K haplogroup the female who started this line descended from haplogroup R and K leads to many different subclads
I will give you some links but its very little in information.
