Question:

Help finding my sister.?

I have tried every forum trying to find my sister. I am 80 and we were separated when I was two. Since I do not know what her married name was or who she was adopted by(if at all) just her birth information I am stumped. I have used all the adoption sites I have found listed.
New thoughts would be appreciated.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: there are many EXCELLENT persons on board here, who will do what they can.
The number one place I can think of, is the county where you lived at the time. An adoption (if there was one) would be sealed, but you MAY be able to petition for the records. A GUARDIANSHIP would possibly be in the county records. Sweetie.. this is one time when I would suggest hiring a good researcher in that area, to go to the courthouse and see if there is something.
Second.. were you placed in an orphanage? I have seen at least one orphanage online, that DOES have persons who help adoptees find the birth family. You don't mention if you remained with your parents. I know these are some difficult and personal questions, and you can write directly to me at researchbug@sbcglobal.net if you want.
Every county in the country has an email list through rootsweb.com. They are free to join, and often there are 'old timers" (no disrespect intended) on the list, who live there, and have tons of info about families in the area. You would be amazed how some persons will go that extra mile to see what they can learn on your behalf.
Another suggestion is to post your parents names AND PLACE, and you are looking for the children/ descendents. It is very slim that they will be "on" here... but it gives all of us here the chance to pull out what we can. sorry, i feal so sad for u. if i lost my sister i don't know what i would do. Write OPRAH or someone and tell your story, maybe they can help, she has unlimited resources
