Question:

How do you look up the history on your home? like who lived here who died here...everything!?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Go to your local city or county recorders office. They usually have the records from the inception of the county or very early on. Then you can take the names to the local newspaper and go through their morgue microfilm to check out information on the owners. Source(s):
Experience Looking up the history of your home is called a title search. You probably have a company locally that will advise you how to do this, which involves tracing the deed books. It is what they do as a business, thus they probably wont' offer to do it for you free.. or, if the genealogy Gods are friendly, they might have a copy of it, in their files.
Ownership is one thing. It does not indicate much about the persons who lived/died there, not to mention that it may have been a rental property at some time.
I have a lot of fun with property here in the Dallas area. The appraiser web site has a search function to allow looking at any parcel on a map, and they do have overlays that show the original grantee for the land. I am also very aware of grantee maps for many counties. If you are interested in that, drop me a note and tell me where you are (no, don't post it on the board). ask the oldest person in your neighborhood.
