Question:

Who is Rachel Jackson's b. 1764) parents? Her husband was Israel Long b. 1755. N.C.Hoping you can help?

I think this couple eventually moved to Indiana. I think I've seen Rachels home as N.C. or MD. But I've also seen others, but I'm thinking N.C. or Md is a better guess.

Could you let me know if you think I'm on the right track please. Wives/females can be really tough.
Right off the bat, there is a possible discrepancy between your 1764 date, and the estimated marriage below of 1774. I know they married young back then, but that's really pushing things.
The first reply may well be the lead needed, if her husband was in fact from that county in NC. It provides a place to start working, since the tendency was to marry a local girl, or the Long and Jackson families were likely associated or neighbors.

Here is a file at rootsweb, which (thankfully) provides sources for what it says. The source does not mention Rachel...what it mentions is WHERE he was, which can be invaluable.
Then, I used the adv search to find ANY Jackson who is noted as died in Stokes county. Samuel Jackson is just an example..http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?o...
what this tells me is that the Jacksons may have been Quaker.

here's a message from genforum, using the search term of Stokes... I am not saying Samuel is her father, but again, there are good clues/details.
You may or may not be able to find any Jackson connection in Indiana.. if you find Israel linked to a Jackson male there, the odds are that he is an inlaw. Sometimes, the only route is to link the female to a brother/sibling, then link that person to parents.
You might also try the Stokes co, NC genweb site. The one thing that is seldom online are land records, and in many cases, those will have the hidden info. One of my ancestors died w/ no will, but he owned land. When his widow went to sell that land, 10 yrs after his death... the deed contained names of all his children (including husbands for the girls), since all were considered "heirs at law".
