Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Do a genalogy search. You should be able to find a site on the internet (there are plenty) ie. familytree.com It's a bit expensive, but you can trace your genetic heritage by sending off for a genetic screening kit from AncestryByDNA. The basic kit for discovering percentages of Sub-Saharan African, Native American, European and East Asian ancestry, which is the group you would be in, runs $240. And you can have the results delivered on paper or CD. This is to trace your ancestry of your overall DNA.
If you want to trace your ancestry on your mother's side, you can get the Ancestry-Mito which traces the mitochondria, which is inhereted only from your mother. This test runs $219.
Check out the site for all the details:

Here's another site for similar testing, slightly different pricing and package deals:

Tracing your ancestry by geneology can be a difficult, confusing, and time consuming (years) process, and way expensive if you have a profesional do it. I've been trying to pin my ancestry down via a geneological search for over 30 years, and only recently found the source of my father's family in Wales.

Good luck... and be proud of your Native heritage. They were all good people before we came over and messed it all up. For all our talk of 'all people being born free' we sure denied the aboriginal tribes of the US any hope of it. They were free before we came and imposed colonisation and genocide upon them. It is a shame that will sit upon all non-aboriginal Americans for generations to come. The web link below has better information than I could type here. Check it out:
