Do people get their IQ's on their genes? Where do people get more IQ, from their mother or from their father?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The latest research suggests that inate intelligience comes from the mother's DNA. My mother is the most ignorant and uneducated woman I ever met. Thank goodness I take after my very smart dad.

So I'm going to opt for whichever one of your parents happens to be smart.

On the other hand, both my sisters took after my mother and were not too intelligent either. Actually it is a combination of the parents genetics, my sister has a wonderfully gifted son who was reading at 2 years of age. Doing mathematics at 3 years of age. He started Montessori School at age 4 to keep him occupied, he went on to public school and was taken out in Grade 3 because no teacher could keep up with his level of learning, and was home schooled, she has had him tested several times(along with his 2 sisters, who are gifted as well) and he is 17 and working above entry level college. Impressive? yes!!!

My point is she was told that his gift is a combination of the parents genetics.
