I was wondering how I can go about tracing my children's Native American Heritage on the paternal side?

My exhusband claims to be of from a Native American Heritage. While he does have the right look he is also known to tell white lies. Of our 2 children 1 looks like she has the right genes. I am curious and hate for her to grow up thinking she is someone she is not. Her Dad always tells her she is a "little indian princess". While she is a princess in my book would be nice to find out if the Indian part is true. Besides isn't it true if they have enough bloodline tracing back they could be eligible for certain benifits when they are grown?

searching for your families heritage is hard. Although I'm Irish, I was able to trace my families roots back to rome. So with the right words you should be able to locate something about your families history.
