I need information on Harrison and Mattie whorton?

I would like information on mattie and harrison whorton. They are my greatgrandparents and I would like to know a little about them

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Here is what I have been able to find. Harrison Whorton was married to Martha Cowan abt 1889. According to the 1900 Madison County, Alabama Federal census, they lived in an area called Clouds Cove.

Harrison is listed as a farmer by profession. They were married for 11 years in the census, so I would say that they were married in late 1888 or early 1889 most likely in Alabama since they were all born in Alabama.

In the 1910 census, Mattie is known as May Sue and they have a few more children named Lena, Leman, Clarence, and Louis. (Wow!! They were sure fertile in those days, weren't they?) They were living in Whitesburg, which is still in Madison County.

I did find a partial family tree online belonging to Larry Rettinger (e-mail larrett@ev1.net) Looking at the tree, I believe that he may descend from Minnie Ethyl Lee Whorton born Jan 9, 1898. She married a gentleman named William Spurgeon Bunch. Perhaps if you drop him a line, he can help you further.

I believe I may have found Harrison in the 1880 census living in Cleburne County, Alabama. I believe him to be the son of Bartlett and Mary S Wharton/Whorton
