Nationality by Name; is there a database?

Question:

Nationality by Name; is there a database?

Is there a way to put a last name into a database to get the person's nationality? We have a lot of visitors on my job and I don't want to offend anyone (i.e. "how's Poland" to the Russian).

Or ask about the weather. At worst, you could ask a Palestinian, Isreali, Northern Irish Catholic, Northern Irish Protestant, Iraqi, Kurd, Sudanese . . . "How's your homeland?" and get 30 minutes of political diatribe and woe.
