Question:

Can u find a list of names from the1938 census?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There are many 1938 censuses of which I am aware including the 1938 German Census of Minorities, the Census of Jewish-Owned Assets taken by the Nazis, the December 1938 Census of Slovakia, the 1938 Census of the Parish of St. Barbara's Church in Powell, Wyoming, and so on and so on...

Over time, many countries, states, parishes, and localities took censuses at different times.

In the United States, the Federal Census has been taken every 10 years beginning in 1790. There is a 72 year privacy policy established on US Federal Census Records, so the most recent census records released are those from the 1930 census, released on April 1, 2002. The US Federal Census Records released to date are 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850 (including slave enumerations), 1860 (including slave enumerations), 1870, 1880, 1890 (most of the 1890 census was lost in a fire), 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930. The 1940 US Federal Census will be released on April 1, 2012.

Census Records for various areas that eventually became part of Canada are available. Census Records for New France are available for 1666, 1667, and 1681. Census Records for Nova Scotia are available for 1811, 1817, 1827, and 1838. Census Records for Quebec are available for 1825 and 1831. For the Eastern Provinces, Census Records are available for 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, and 1901. For Western Canada, Census Records are available for 1881, 1891, 1891, and 1906 (Northwesten Provinces only). Because of a 1906 Canadian Law, Census Records after this date will not become publicly available.

United Kingdom Census Records (including England, Wales, Isle of Man, and Channel Islands) are available for 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, and 1901. England and Wales took censuses in 1801, 1811, 1821, and 1831, but these were only statistical records and provide no names. UK census records are closed for 100 years after they were taken.

Scotland Census Records are avialable for 1801 (mostly destroyed), 1811(mostly destroyed), 1821(mostly destroyed), 1831(mostly destroyed), 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, and 1901.

Irish Census Records have been mostly destroyed by fire, but Irish Census Records for 1901 and 1911 are available. Also available is a Religious Census taken in Ireland in 1766.
