Name was shortened when moving to America. I would like to know the original

I see some names in the Ellis Island site, Posikova, Posikow, but out of 48 names, only 2 were longer than Posik. So, it is possible that is the entire name, because it is unlikely that so many would be shortened so consistently.

If you search for the name with "alternate spellings only" option, you get a few more. You should go there and see if any are your relatives. The site is free, but you have to register.
