Question:

How to find out where someone died?

His name is Keith E. Miller Born 01/10/58 Died 09/21/05
His state of birth was Illinois. I looked in the SSDI but he didn't die in Whiteside county. I just want to find out how to obtain the death certificate.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The Social Security Death Index does not provide the place of death. It provides the last known residence and the place where the final benefits were sent.

Since Keith had an address in Sterling, Whiteside Co., Illinois, you shoud contact the local public library in Sterling (see the first link below) and ask if they can check their local newspaper archives for an obituary for Keith. Even if he didn't die in Sterling, if Keith lived there, you may be able to find an obituary that will list the place of his death. There's a link to email the librarian on the library website. Librarians tend to be very helpful (as long as you're nice to them!).

You could also try contacting the local newspaper (Sterling Daily Gazette) directly (see the second link below).
