Question:

Is it easy to find your grandparents if your mother was adopted?

I know some adoptions are very closed, but I have so many detailes including their last name and their requests.. how hard would it be to research them and find out?

First, closed adoptions are by the law of the location you live at. In the US, the States determine the law, open or closed. So, a quick search on "Adoption Law <location>" (where <location> is the location of the adoption) at the YAHOO! Search line will produce a bunch of results telling you what the laws are.

If it is a closed adoption, you will find that you can REGISTER to get information on the adoption. If you don't register you will never find anything. If it is open, you simply apply for the information.

Here are some adoption sites, sorry, you did not specify a location, so the specific laws cannot be provided. You will be looking to get Vital Records on Mom. Once you have Mom's real birth certificate, your Grandparents will be listed on that certificate.

Look through the SEARCH for Adoption Vital Records, provide below. There are a bunch of sites at a YAHOO Search. You can take that search, once you go there, and modify a word, add a word, until you get some information to help you. In other words, modify the search to suit your location and records needs. Don't be afraid to look for Town records, Vital Records <town name>, etc. Then do the reading, and follow through on the paperwork.
