Question:

Malone Family Motto?

My father is a rather good geneologist who does not have a flair for languages. My family, the O Maoil Eoin clan, hails from Ventry, Country Kerry who are directly decended from the O'Connors of Connacht. This is so you get an idea of the proper regional dialect I am looking for.

Would somebody kindly give me the correct pronunciation of my family motto? I am getting it tattoo'd on my ankel and don't want to look like a fool when asked what it says...I know the translation, just the irish-gael pronunciation!

Fidelis ad Urnam

Thanks in advance!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: That's actually just plain old latin, not gaelic of any sort...

It would be pronounced: feedelis odd oornom

It means, "faithful to the urn' (like cremated ashes urn) which translates to "faithful until death"
