Question:

How do i start looking for my ancestors?

will you look for my grandfather cristobal tajo?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Hey Foxy,

First, get all the information from your living relatives that you can. Birth certificates, names, dates, parents, obits, anything - stories, pictures, etc.

Your grandfather will be listed on your parents birth and marriage certificates. That should say when and where he was born. Cristobal was not found in the Family Search site. There are Tajo entries there though, that could be great grandfathers or grand uncles, etc.

So you may have to get his records from the town where he was born, (or country, state, province, etc). Town records are least expensive. If your parents do not have their birth records for you, you can get them too. See the vital records sites below. You can find more places by searching for the Country, and using the words VITAL RECORDS in a YAHOO! Search.

You did not say if Tajo was Spain, Mexico, Philippines or other, so I can't look those up for you. That is easy though. Then write to them, call them or email them. They will have a form, and process to send them a nominal records maintenance fee, and you will get the records in the mail.

Obits are also good. Where ever your GFather passed on, the town will have an Obituary. The local library will have it on file in the local news. You can call or write the library too. They love to help, especially if you talk real nice to them.

There were no Family or GENFORUM web sites for Tajo surname, you could start one.
