Question:

Will a death cerificate (Singapore) have information about where the ashes are kept?

I'm looking to get some info about where my brother's ashes are kept. He died in '83. I now know how to get a death cert, but would like to know if that cert would have the location of where his ashes are stored or if a certificate of cremation would have that info. (though I understand you can't actually get a copy of the certificate of cremation?)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I don't think that the death cert will have info on where the ashes are kept, since at the time when you book a niche, you would need to already have, and produce the death cert. You can also call the Immigation & Checkpoints Authority at 6391 6100 to check before you go ahead and extract the death cert.

I think your best bet for finding your brother's ashes would be to go to the columbariums and ask them to check their records for you. Although that might also be an uphill task, since there're 3 government columbaria and about 57 private ones.

Good luck in your search!
