Does anyone know if the name "Afra" is short for something? I've hit a dead end in my family tree.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Afra was a catholic saint who was martyred at the beginning of the 4th century, so there is historical precedent for just the name Afra even if there is short for something longer.

It has an arabic and/or hebrew origin, and has several variations but no longer form that I know of. Hope that helps!
