Where can I find where I was born?

Question:

Where can I find where I was born?

I can't seem to immediately find my birth certificate, so is there a public records database where I can enter my social security number or name/birthday where I can find it?

I know it will turn up, so I dont need to re-order it, I just need to know the city in which I was born, and wonder if there is a quick, free lookup for it.

If there were, others would be able to easily steal your identity.
The first 3 numbers of your SS indicate what state your SS is registered in.
