Question:

Looking for relatives in Lanycsok, Hungary. My grandfather came from Lanycsok.?

my grandfather was Adam Fridrich. He always spelled it as Friedrich. He was baptized in Sazbolcs in 1892. His father was Jozsef Fridrich and mother was Katalin Amrein. The last name could be spelled friedrich also. My grandfather had a brother name joseph (is deceased) and a sister possibly named margarite (her where about is unknown). Remaining relatives are not sure if the sisters name is actually margarite. But two of the sisters have that name in common. Any info would be appreciated. Their are only the three relatives left here, no one knew that grandpa came from hungary until a pass port was found and translated for us. He always told everyone he was german. So they assumed he had come from Germany. If you can help in any way with info it would be greatly appreciated. I ran out of leads. Thanks

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Friedrich is a relatively common name. It does sound German, so it's possible that your grandfather was a descendant of German settlers or re-named Jews. Try to contact L㡮ycs㳫 at lanycsok@fibermail.hu, they may help you better than I could.
