My family history is so lost by people moving & not keeping records. I believe I am Potowanomi, Wisconsin. I need to find out for my own peace and a place to start from to trace my heritage. Thanks to all who answer.

Get your parents birth Certificates, that will list their parents. Then get their Birth, Death, and Marriage certificates. Interview any living relative. Basic Genealogy stuff first. Then you have the information to go back to the ancestors, keep working backward in time one person at a time.

DNA - Many are reputable. The bad ones do not say around for long. Here are some sites for you to look at. Personally, Family Tree projects work really well, they post to more global projects for small fee and no retesting.
