Where do I find out?

On My birth certificate it says withheld where my fathers name should be, Where do I go to get the information that was withheld and how do I get ahold of old welfare records for the late 60's and 70's? I'm trying to find my father and I have very little information, and my mother is no longer around.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Start with the county clerk. You may need to hire a lawyer. You may never find him, either.

The county welfare office may have records back that far, and may be willing to share them. They may not. Again, you might need a lawyer and even then you may not find anything.
