How do I research a person who was sent to prison in Weatherford Ks. In 1923?

She was supposed to have killed her husband.Her parents were Jonathan and Anne Blackford and I beleave she had 6 or 8 children. She had a set of twins named Lilly and Willly. Her sister Opal Mae is my Grandmother. Her name was Cecelia Salome. I beleave she was sentenced in 1923 and was released in1940-1943

You may also check the local library in that area, they may have news papers from that period of time on micro-film. You may find an article or police report about this event there. The state's archival prison records may also have some info.

Also, check the hospital they they may have been admitted to (archival). If the hospital no longer exists, find out where those records were send to. You can also search the Social Security Death Index for their names. I believe it does go back that far.

If they were recent immigrants, you can check immigration rosters. There's also the census reports.
