Question:

Where could I find information about the 1670's - 1700's?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You don't mention the country. If it's the US, there are all sorts of places to search, from the DAR to the Pilgrim Society to the Holland Society, etc.

If it's Canada, then the sites with information are extensive. PRDH has all of the French-Canadian records in a database that you can access through the Universite de Montreal. There's an English version available.

If it's the Netherlands, then the site you want is www.genlias.nl. It also has an English version.

For Mexican records, your best sources are the Catholic Church records.

For England, you have all sorts of sites, from BMD to census to parish registers.

Ireland's a little challenging because they weren't huge record keepers. But the records are there if you look for them through British gen sites.

If you're talking about Poland or Germany, most of the records are in state archives. Contact me if you want more info on accessing them.

For Switzerland, the records are kept in canton archives. They all speak English, which is the wonderful news.

Belgium is the hard one. Nothing's archived. You have to know the town where the person lived and you have to go there in person to get them.
