Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There seems to be a Cobber population in North Carolina. According to the 1850 US census the older ones, seem to immigrate from Germany. In 1860 there are some Cobber immigrants also from Germany living in Illinois. In 1900 there is a Cobber immigrant living in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania again from Germany.
