Question:

Is anybody looking for the father or garandfather with the surname..?

Hartlen..first names george or ralph...george in the early 70`s and ralph in the 1930-40`s?/?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Hi... are you working the George Hartlen, who was born in 1884, and died March, 1970? His last residence was Waltham, Mass. according to the social security death index. There are 22 Hartlens in that file, mainly New Hampshire, Mass. and Rhode Island. This computer index only has deaths from about 1960, so if Ralph died before that, he won't show. The next step on George would be to track down his obituary if possible or death certificate. I am assuming Ralph was his father. When you find where George was born (from the other records), that gives a location to look for Ralph.
I also looked at rootsweb family files. There are a number of Georges and Ralphs there also. There seems to be a concentration in Nova Scotia? Could it be that Ralph came from NS to New Hampshire? If Ralph was alive in 1920, it may be worth while to find him in the 1920 census, which will tell you where he was born, as well as his parents place of birth.
When there are files on rootsweb, it does have an email for the file owner, who may be able to give you lots more info.

(actually, found this file, and it confirms just that, a migration from NS to New Hampshire and Mass)

I checked google, and find an interesting page-

It shows that Agnes Nicholson married a son of a George Harlen In NS. If this is your George Hartlen family, then Agnes may be your ancestor also.
