Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It's a Flemish surname and will be almost impossible to research from the US. Beligium is unlike most other civilized countries. They never archived their records. Instead, every town holds its own records. To find your family you will have to find the hometown of your immigrant ancestors and go their for the records. Only a tiny fraction of the Flemish records are on the internet...and they're not that impressive in their depth. I've been researching one Flemish line (Volgers) for almost 8 years. Short of a trip to West Flanders (as much as I can narrow down the name) there is just no way to find them. I even had a lead that the brother of the woman I'm researching was a Catholic priest. Well, he may have been, but nobody kept a record of it. The archbishop of Mecklenberg was only able to suggest he was in an order and the Vatican was only able to tell me that the Secretary for the Holy Orders never kept track of who was ordained. It's a very frustrating country indeed.
