Question:

What family has the longest documented ancestry?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Mine goes back to Arnulf, Bishop of Metz, who was born in 639 CE. There are 72 generations in that line. Since it's a very well-documented royal line, I would suspect that many of the peerage rolls in Europe would be similar in length. There's also another version of it that claims to go back to Jesus Christ through a daughter named Tamar and two sons, but you'd have to believe the Merovingian kings didn't fabricate a smidge of that to justify their reign.
