Finding family members, need help??

i want to find out if i am related to matthew perry the guy that fought in the war of 1812. what web sites should i look at that will track my family to him for free.the reason is that grandpa has the last name of perry so i thougt that it would be intersting if i found out for sure that i was related to him. need some real help?
