How to find out what cemetery a friend has been laid to rest at?

I recently found out an old friend of mine died in 2004, we had lost contact for a while... I am still not sure how he died, he was 19 that year. How can I find out what cemetery he is buried in? He lived in a city 1/2 an hour away from mine. Is there any way to find out how he died? Thanks for any helpful information you can give, I hope I can figure this all out soon.

so.. www.rootsweb.com click on searches, then social security death index. What you need for starters is the exact date.
2nd.. with the death date, google the name of the town plus word newspaper. They may or may not be online. You need to contact the paper (email or phone call), explain that you need your friend's obituary. Normally that will give you the cemetery, and if not, look for the mortuary name.
Legally, you can't get the death cert (restricted to family members by law) for specifics. If the obit does not mention, likely an accident. Were you friends with the parents? Even if 2 yrs later, a sympathy note would not hurt, explain that you just found out. If you open communication, they may explain.
